Question 473596: Find the x intercepts for the graph of the equation
y=x^2+4x-5
^means raising to that power

x-intercepts occur when y is zero, so set x^2 + 4x - 5 equal to zero.

x^2 + 4x - 5 = 0

(x + 5)(x - 1) = 0

x = -5, 1

So (-5,0) and (1,0) are the x-intercepts.
