You cannot "solve the Quadratic Formula." What you can do is solve the given quadratic equation using the quadratic formula. I'll presume that is what you meant.
Step 1: Write down the coefficients from your equation of the form

Step 2: Plug the numbers into the formula:
\ \pm\ \sqrt{(-2)^2\ -\ 4(6)(-1)}}{2(6)})
That's all the algebra there is to do on this problem. The rest is arithmetic. You can do your own arithmetic.
