2x^2 + 5x - 2 = 0 this is on completing the square
Divide thru by 2 to get:
x^2+(5/2)x =0
Complete the square on the left side to get:
x^2+(5/2)x+(5/4)^2 = 1 + (5/4)^2
(x+(5/4))^2 = 21/16
Take the square root of both sides to get:
x+(5/4) = (1/4)sqrt21 or (x+(5/4))=-(1/4)sqrt21
Then:
x=-(5/4)+(1/4)sqrt21 or x=-(5/4 )-(1/4)(sqrt21

Stan H.
