How can one tell if a quadratic equation has no solution using the quadratic formula?

For your level of math all you need to know is if you end up with a negative number under the radical sign.
If you have a negative solution under the radical sign the solution is imaginary numbers.
I don't think you are to that level yetso they say no solution.
