There are several ways to do this. You can use completing the square, you can use the formula , or you can graph it and see where the vertex is. The line of symmetry will be a vertical line whose equation is in the form of x = ____, where the value of x is the x coordinate of the vertex:
In this case, a=-1, b=-10, so
Final answer is the vertical line, x=-5.
Another method is to find the x intercepts. The vertex will always be midway between the x intercepts.
