Question 407244: If 4x + 1 = 3x − 6, evaluate 5x − 6.
I just honestly do not understand how to work it. I have tried and tried and even used the help on my homework but I just don't understand how to work it. Please help me. I keep solving for x because that's all I know how to do.

solve for x using:
4x + 1 = 3x − 6
x + 1 = −6
x = -7
.
Then, using the above value of x, substitute it into:
5x − 6
5(-7) − 6
-35 -6
-41
