Question 40513: what is the easiest way of geetting use to equar=tions
Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
CONSIDER THE = SIGN AS A FULCRUM & THE TWO ITEMS ON EITHER SIDE AS WEIGHTS OF EQUAL VALUE.
YOU CAN ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY, DIVIDE, SQRT, RAISE TO A POWER ETC. AS LONG AS YOU PERFORM THE SAME OPERATION TO BOTH SIDES.
EXAMPLE 3X=12 TO SOLVE FOR X OR 1X YOU ONLY NEED TO DIDIDE BOTH SIDES BY 3
THUS 3X/3=12/3 OR 1X=4 OR X=4
EXAMPLE 5X+15=2X-10 OR SUBTRACTING 2XFROM BOTH SIDES WE GET 5X-2X+15=2X-2X-10 OR 3X+15=0-10 NOW SUBTRACT 15 FROM BOTH SIDES WE GET 3X-15+15=-10-15 OR
3X+0=-25 OR 3X=-25 NOW DIVIDE BOTH SIDES BY 3 WE GET X=-25/3
HOPE THIS HELPS
