Here's an example of a problem:

If you throw a rock straight up, the position x in terms of time (t) is given by
where a is the acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s^2), is the original velocity, and is the original position. How long does it take for the rock to hit the ground? (just use the quadratic formula)
