Solved by pluggable solver: SOLVE quadratic equation with variable
Quadratic equation (in our case ) has the following solutons:

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant : .

Discriminant d=576 is greater than zero. That means that there are two solutions: .

Quadratic expression can be factored:

Again, the answer is: 3, -1. Here's your graph:

6x to the second power - 12x - 18 = ????
6x^2 - 12x - 18 = ????
Any number you plug in for will give you either or higher.

Answer by ikdeep(226)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
6x^2 - 12x - 18 = 0
divide both sides by 6 and we get...........
x^2 - 2x - 3 = 0
splitting of middle term and we get......
x^2 - (3-1)x - 3 = 0
x^2 - 3x + 1x - 3 = 0
x(x-3) +1(x-3) = 0
(x-3)(x+1)= 0
either x = 3 or = -1
hope this will help u
