write a quadratic equation with the given roots. Write the equation in the form of ax^2+ bx + c = 0, where a, b, and c are integers
1, 4
-2,-5

I'll do this one, the others are simpler.
-1/3, -3
If the roots are a and b, the equation is (x-1)*(x-b) = 0

There's a well-known property that says that if r is a root of a polynomial, then x-r is a factor of it. Using this, we see that if 1 and 4 are the roots, then the polynomial is in factored form (there can't be additional factors since we're given it's quadratic). Expanding, we get .

Use the same process to do the other two.
