Question 38438: Find x if Xsquared= 2x+5
Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
From x^2 = 2x + 5, we get
x^2 - 2x - 5 = 0
This cannot be factored so we need to use the quadratic formula...
x = (2 ± sqrt(4 + 20)) / 2
x = (2 ± sqrt(24)) / 2
x = (2 ± 2sqrt(6)) / 2
x = 1 ± sqrt(6)
