Question 3565: use the quadratic formula to slove 2xsquard-5x=2=0
Answer by Pieter(35) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
now do you mean
2x² - 5x = 2 or 2x² - 5x = 0 ?
if 2x² - 5x = 2:
then 2x² - 5x - 2 = 0
using with a=2, b=-5 and c=-2 we get (5+sqrt41)/4 and (5-sqrt41)/4 as solutions.
if 2x² - 5x = 0
then x(2x - 5) = 0; this means that x is zero OR 2x - 5 is zero (a*b=0, then a OR b is 0)
if x is zero the solution is 0
and if 2x - 5 is zero, the solution is 5/2
so the solutions of 2x² - 5x = 0 are 0 and 5/2
i hope you understand it
