Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
c^2+12c+20=0
Factor to get:
(c+10)(c+2)=0
c+10=0 or c+2=0
c=-10 or c=-2

I already explained how to simplify these types, so I will just help you solve for this:
c^2+12c+20=0 original
c^2+12c+20=0 the product of 'a' and 'c' is 20 and the factors that sum up to 'b' are 2 and 10
c^2+2c+10c+20=0 plug in the factors
(c^2+2c)+(10c+20)=0 group
c(c+2)+10(c+2)=0 factor out the common factor
(c+10)(c+2)=0 combine with grouping
Zero product property:
c+10=0 is c=-10
c+2=0 is c=-2
