Question 331021: A photo is 3 inches longer that it is wide. A 2-inch border is placed around the photo making the total area of the photo and border 108in2. What are the dimensions of the photo?
Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
108=2(x+2)+2(x+3+2)
108=2x+4+2x+10
108=4x+14
4x=108-14
4x=94
x=94/4
x=23.5 in. is the width.
23.5+3=26.5 in. is the length.
Proof:
108=2(23.5+2)+2(26.5+2)
108=2*25.5+2*28.5
108=51+557
108=108
