y=x^2-2x-8

Answer by richwmiller(17219)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
This can be factored.
We want factors of -8 that add to -2
-8,1
-1,8
2,-4 got it
4,-2
(x-4)*(x+2)=y
As it is there is no unique solution.
If you want the roots or zeros you set it to zero
(x-4)*(x+2)=0
x=4 x=-2
