We either factor this or use the Quadratic Formula. It will factor:

From the Zero Product Property we know that this product is zero only if one of the factors is zero:
5x + 14 = 0 or x - 6 = 0
Solving these we get:
x = -14/5 or x = 6
which are the same answers we get from the Quadratic Formula if we use it correctly and simplify it correctly.
