IF the equation of the parabola is written y=ax^2+bx+c, then a must be..
The parabola on this graph is an upside down bowl with its vertex being at 2
on the y axis...
1. zero
2. positive
3. negative
4. none of the above

y = ax2 + bx + c

is a right side up bowl if a is positive and an upside down bowl if a is negative.

So the answer is 3. The information given about the vertex is unnecessary.
