YOU ARE PARTIALLY CORRECT.
A,B,C NEED NOT BE PRIME NUMBERS.BUT THEY SHOULD BE PRIME TO EACH OTHER.THAT IS THEIR GCD SHOULD BE 1.
THEN THE POLYNOMIAL IS CALLED PRIMITIVE POLYNOMIAL...AND NOT REPEAT NOT...PRIME POLYNOMIAL.
PLEASE NOTE THAT A PRIMITIVE POLYNOMIAL CAN STILL BE REDUCED BY FACTORISATION..EX....X^2+5X+6...WE HAVE 1,5 AND 6 ARE PRIME TO EACH OTHER AND THEIR GCD IS 1.
BUT X^2+5X+6 =(X+2)(X+3)
