Question 26784: Im so stuck. I know the answer i just don't know how to show my work. The base of a triangle is 4cm less than the hight. The area is 96cm, what is the hight.
Answer by Paul(988)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
LEt the hieght be x
Let the base be x-4
Area = 96
Formula = (base*height)/2

Remove the fraction my multiplying the eqaution by 2

Factor: (x+12) and (x-16)
x=-12 and x=16

Remove the negative
16-4=12

Hence, the height is 16cm and the base is 12cm.
