I am not getting the same answer, so I was wondering if someone can tell me where I am going wrong. Here is what I have been doing:
PROBLEM:
Suppose you are an event coordinator for a large performance theater. One of the hottest new Broadway musicals has started to tour, and your city is the first stop on the tour. You need to supply information about projected ticket sales to the box office manager. The box office manager uses this information to anticipate staffing needs until the tickets sell out. You provide the manager with a quadratic equation that models the expected number of ticket sales for each day x. ( is the day tickets go on sale).

And when it comes to figuring out the last day of sales, I do this:
- .2x^2+12x+11
a= -.2 b= 12 c= 11
x= -(-.2)+- sqrt(12^2-4*(-.2)*11/2*(-.2)
x= .2 +- sqrt(144-(-.8)*11/-.4
x= .2 +- sqrt(144-(-8.8)/-.4
x= .2 +- sqrt(152.8)/-.4
And this is where I get lost.....I am getting decimals out the rear and can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Does this even look close??? I would really, really appreciate any help.... I'm about to give up... It's been 2 days working on this stupid problem. Ugh!!

The average of these 2 is 30.
The vertex formula is

at 30 days, you sell 198 tickets.
