Question 252419: find the value of p if the roots of the equation differ by 5
Answer by hokies(65)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2+x+(p/3)+2=0 (divided equation by 3)
(x+3)(x-2)=0 (this must be the solution --> solve for p; roots are x=-3 and x=2)
-3 and 2 differ by 5 and add up to 1
p/3+2 = -6
p/3 = -8
p = -24
