Question 248701: I am supposed to write a quadratic equation in the variable x having the given numbers as a solution. I am supposed to type the equation in standard form, ax^2 + bx + c = 0. The solution is 2.

Since the only solution is 2, and there are supposed to be two solutions, this means that the solution 2 occurs twice. Now also remember that if 'a' is a solution, then is a factor. This means that is a factor that occurs twice giving you the factored polynomial . Simply FOIL this out to find your quadratic.
