Rewrite as y+24 = x^2+2x
Complete the square on the right side and keep the
equation balanced as follows:
y+24+1 = x^2+2x+1
Rewrite as:
y+25 = (x+1)^2
The form is Y-k =4p(x-h)^2
So, vertex is at (h,k)= (-1,-25)
y-intercept: Let x=0 in the original equation to get y=24
So, y=intercept is (0,24)
x-intercept: Let y=0 in the original equation to get:
x^2+2x-24=0
This factors as (x+6)(x-4)=0
So, you have x-intercepts at x=-6 and x=4
