Question 237296: write the quadratic f(x)=2x^2+8x-2 in standard form. I got f(x)=(2x^2+4)-4-2, do I go further?

f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k The standard form. The vertex=(h,k)
f(x)=2x^2+8x-2
=2(x^2+4x)-2
=2(x^2+4x+4-4)-2 complete the square of 4 by dividing it by 2 and squaring it by 2 which gives 4 and adding -4 so the statement stays the same.
=2(x^2+4x+4)-2(4)-2
=2(x+2)^2-10 The standard form. The vertex=(-2,-10)
