When factoring, always start by factoring out the Greatest Common Factor (GCF), The GCF here is 6:


The second factor is obviously, I hope, a difference of squares:

And we are finished factoring. Now the Zero Product Property tells us that this or any product is zero only if one of the factors is zero. 6 cannot be zero. But the other two, with a variable, can:
x+3 = 0 or x-3 = 0
Solving these we get:
x = -3 or x = 3
