All the quadratic equations need not be solved only by using the formula. You must know that the quadratic equation can also be solved by factorising it as in this case:
6x^2+11x+3 = 0
= 6x^2+2x+9x+3 = 0
= 2x(3x+1) + 3(3x+1) = 0
= (3x+1)(2x+3) = 0
So either (3x+1) = 0 or (2x+3) = 0
So if 3x+1 = 0, then 3x = -1
= x = -
If 2x+3 = 0, then 2x = -3
= x = -
