(X-2)^2+X^2=10..EXPANDING USING (A-B)^2 FORMULA
X^2-4X+4+X^2=10......TRANSPOSING AND SIMPLIFYING
2X^2-4X-6=0...DIVIDING BY 2 THROUGHOUT
X^2-2X-3=0
X^2-3X+X-3=0
X(X-3)+1(X-3)=0
(X-3)(X+1)=0
X-3 =0 .........................OR.................X+1=0
X=3.........OR..................X=-1
