Question 205046: Hello. I am trying to figure out 6x^2+42x=0. I don't understand when they say factor out the 6x and how they get to 6x(x+7)=0. Can you explain step by step what factor out 6x means and how you do it? Thanks.

The Greatest Common Factor is the greatest number that is a factor in of all the numbers of the equation.
Remove that from each section, When the remainder is multiplied through with GCF you will get the original equation.
Find the GCF. Then divide the equation by the GCF.
The GCF is 6x.
If the second part of the equation did not have a "x" the GCF would just be the "6" and the first part would remain x^2.
I hope that helps some.
