Answer by vleith(2983) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A grade of 8% says that for every 8 feet went up, you would have traveled 100 feet on flat ground.
Now imagine a standing at one corner of a triangle. one leg is 100 feet. The 'opposite' leg is 8 feet.
So = = tangent(a)
Use your calculator and find the arcTan or invTan for (0.08) and see that the angle is about 4.57 degrees.
Now verify, what is the tangent of 4.57 degrees?
