find the equivalent factored form of a quadratic expression?
----
You have to understand how FOIL generates a product of binomials.
Then you have to figure out how to reverse the process.
That is called the AC method of factoring.
--------------
1. 2x^2+3x+1
2x^2 + 2x + x + 1
2x(x+1) + (x+1)
(x+1)(2x+1
-------------------------
2. 3x^2-x-4
3x^2 -4x + 3x -4
x(3x-4) + 3x-4
(3x-4)(x+1)
-------------------------
3. x^2-9
x^2 + 3x -3x -9
x(x+3)-3(x+3)
(x+3)(x-3)
----------------
4. n^2-4
n^2 + 2n -2n -4
n(n+2)-2(n+2)
(n+2)(n-2)
