I'll use the method called "completing the square"
First get all constant terms on the right side, then
divide both sides by
take 1/2 of the coefficient of the term,
square it, then add it to both sides. The left side
will automatically become a perfect square.

Take the square root of both sides

2x^2+8x-30=0 which is in the format of : ax^2+bx+c=0
formula:

a=2;b=8;c=-30
