has two different real roots when the discriminant is greater than 0 and the graph cuts across the x-axis twice.
has two equal real roots when the discriminant is equal to 0 and the graph touches the x-axis in one place only.
has two conjugate complex roots when the discriminant is less than 0 and the graph doesn’t cross the x-axis.
