Question 157428: solve 30=w(w+1)
Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve 30=w(w+1) Get rid of parens(distributive law)
30=w^2+w subtract 30 from each side
w^2+w-30=0---------------quadratic in standard form and it can be factored
(w+6)(w-5)=0
w=-6
and
w=5
CK
First -6
(-6)^2-6-30=0
36-6-30=0
30-30=0
0=0
Next
5
5^2+5-30=0
25+5-30=0
30-30=0
0=0
Hope this helps---ptaylor
