USING THE EQUATION X^2+17X-60=0 WE REPLACE THE A TERM WITH (1), REPLACE THE B TERM WITH (17) & THE C TERM WITH (-60) & SOLVE FOR X:
X=(-17+-SQRT[17^2-4*1*-60])/2*1 NOW EXPAND THE (17^2), THE (-4*1*-60) & THE (2*1):
X=(-17+-SQRT[289+240])/2 NOW ADD THE (289+240).
X=(-17+-SQRT529)/2 NOW FIND THE SQRT (529).
X=(-17+-23)/2 NOW ADD THE (-17+23)
X=(-17+23)/2 NOW DIVIDE.
X=6/2 NOW REDUCE THE FRACTION.
X=3 ANSWER.
X=(-17-23)/2 NOW ADD (-17-23)
X=-40/2 REDUCE THE FRACTION.
X=-20 ANSWER.
