solve this problem: f(x) = x^2-4x /2x^3 +2x^2-12x

Factor to get:
f(x) = [x(x-4)]/[2x(x^2+x-6)]
f(x) = [x(x-4)] / [2x(x+3)(x-2)]

Comment: You did't say what you need to do with the equation.
If you are looking for the roots or zeroes, set the numerator
equal to zero :
x(x-4)= 0
x=0 or x=4
