Okay, so you'd label the coefficients a, b, and c. (I find it less confusing that way.)
Then plug it into the quadratic formula.

You get x=1.7 & x=-1

Plug each back into the original equation. You get (1.7,4.3) & (-1,4).

To find the vertex, plug the correct numbers into the formula, x=-b/2a.
Plug that answer (.3) into the original equation to find y.
The vertex is (.3,-1.3).

The axis of symmetry is y=-1.3

**I did this using the Quadratic Solver, but found it very confusing.
