Graph the equation and identify the y-intercept:
First, to graph this linear equation, you need only to assign values to the indepedent variable, that's x, then calculate the corresponding value of the dependent variable, that's y. Since a straight line requires only two points to define it, that's all you need to find. So, assign some convenient value to x, like zero, (x=0) for example, then find the corresponding value of y.

So here's your first point: (0, -6)
Now for the second point, let x = 3.

...and here's your second point: (3, 0)
Now. on your coordinate graph paper with the x- and y-axes drawn in, you mark these two points then draw a straight line through them to get your graph, easy, right?
As for the y-intercept, this is x- and y-location on your graph where the line you have drawn intersects the y-axis.
It happens that the x-value will be zero, so the y-value is -6 (0, -6) which happens to be one of the two points you got for the graph.
