1/x+1/x+16=1/15
2/x=1/15-16
2/x=(1-240)/15 now cross multiply
x(-239)=30
-239x=30
x=30/-239
x=-30/239 answer.
proof:
1*-239/30+1*-239/30+16=1/15
-478/30+16=1/15
-239/15+16=1/15
-239/15-1/15=-16
-240/15=-16
-16=-16

Solve for x.
1/x + 1/(x+16) = 1/15
[x+16+x]/[x(x+16)] = 1/15
(2x+16)/(x^2+16x) = 1/15
Cross-multiply to get:
30x+240 = x^2+16x
x^2-14x-240=0
x = [14 +- sqrt(14^2-4*-240]/2
x = [14 +- sqrt(1156)]/2
x = [14 +- 34]/2
x = 24 or x = -10
