Answer by mayank(15)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
16=1/9(x+1)^2
thus, (x+1)^2=1/9*16
thus, x+1=1/12 or x+1=-1/12
thus, x=1/12-1 or x=-1/12-1
thus, x=-11/12 or x=-13/12
