Question 123986: Solve the following quadratic equations. (x - 1)^2 = 7
Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x-1)^2=7
x^2-2x+1=7
x^2-2x+1-7=0
x^2-2x-6=0
using the quadratic equation we get:

x=(2+-sqrt[-2^2-4*1*-6])/2*1
x=(2+-sqrt[4+24])/2
x=(2+-sqrt28)/2
x=(2+-5.29)/2
x=(2+5.29)/2
x=7.29/2
x=3.645 answer.
x=(2-5.29)/2
x=-3.29)/2
x=-1.645 answer.
