Question 118818: What is the discriminant of (3x+2)x=4-2x? I think the answer is 64 but I need an explaination . Please help me :)
Answer by ilana(307) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Discriminant means the value of b^2-4ac (this shows up under the square root sign in the quadratic formula) when your equation is ax^2+bx+c=0.
So for this problem, you need to first change your problem into that general form by distributing and getting all terms to one side of the equal sign. Then you will have a value for a,b, and c to plug into the formula b^2-4a.
You should in fact get 64. Good luck!
