Discriminant means the value of b^2-4ac (this shows up under the square root sign in the quadratic formula) when your equation is ax^2+bx+c=0.
So for this problem, you need to first change your problem into that general form by distributing and getting all terms to one side of the equal sign. Then you will have a value for a,b, and c to plug into the formula b^2-4a.
