Question 117550: How do you rewrite the equation y=x^2+6x+4 in vertex form by using the concept of completing the sqaure.
Answer by edjones(8007)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=x^2+6x+4
=x^2+6x +4
=x^2+6x+9+4-9 complete the square by dividing 6 by 2 and squaring the result.
=(x+3)^2-5
y=a(x-h)^2+k
So, a=1 h=-3 and k=-5 and the vertex=(-3,-5)
