(1)  20*24 = 480 ft^2 is the area of the pool.



(2)  480 + 192 = 672 ft^2  is the area of the pool and the strip around the pool.



(3)  Now I want to present the number 672 as the product of two integer factors with the difference  4 (same as the difference 24-20) between them.


    This presentation is  672 = 24*28.



(4)  Therefore,   =  = 2 ft is the answer to the given problem.
