Cutting one corner off from the square object will produce two new corners, of more obtuse angles than right-angles on what was previously a square object.

Actually that is not yet complete.
You could say EIGHT corners; because cutting off the one corner from the square forms a pentagon and and a triangle. You could call the vertices of the triangle, "corners".
