Question 116786: I am guessing this would be Geometry. I am not good at word problems. My son who thinks he is so smart, really is. So every now and then he will come in and pose a question for me to figure out the answer. I really would prefer you not post this. I would just like to know the answer please so I can go back to him. I have part of it figured out just not sure about the very last part?
Question is this> The length of a rectangle is 2 cm more than 3 times its width. If the area of the rectangle is 96cm squared, find the dimensions of the rectangle to the nearest thousandth.
Okay I figured it to this point 96=3w�+2w which can be written as 0=3w�+2w-96 By putting it in your quadratic equation solver I came up with 5.333 So do I just multiply the width 5.333 by 3 and then add 2 to get the dimensions Width=5.333cm and Length=17.999cm?
