Find the 3 vertices ofthe triangle intersecting by
x=2, y=3 and 8x+5y=40.
Very straightford,we get the 3 points.
(2,3),(2,24/5) and (25/8 ,3).
Then use the formula of area[ concerning the determinant ]
we have area =1/2
| 2 3 1|
| 2 24/5 1|
| 25/8 3 1| (absolute value)
(the calculation and the final answer are left for you.)
Of course, you can use other formulas related to distance and trig
functions, But the above method is the simplest way.
