Answer by Gator Tutoring(5)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve for x, 8=1-7x^2
8=1-7x^2
combine like terms, for this problem they are (8, 1)
8 - 1 = - 7x^2
7 = - 7x^2
divide both sides by - 7
7 / - 7 = x^2
- 1 = x^2
sqrt[ - 1 ] = x
i, - i = x

note when solving X^2 problems like above:
The trick here is to know that there is going to be a positive and negative answer and that when you take the square root of a negative number you put an " i " next to the answer.
