Question 1137232: Use the exponential regression function f(t) = 1.5703e .03x to estimate the amount of board feet (in 100’s of feet) for a 140 year old tree. (No work required.)

EXTRA CREDIT (6 points) Show algebraic work (no extra credit without work.) Estimate the age of a tree that provides 100 board feet (in 100’s of board feet). In other words, solve the equation 100 = 1.5703e .03x for x. (Hint: use logarithms.)

this is 1.570*e^(4.2)=104.72 hundreds of board feet.
100=1.5703e^.03x, divide by 1.5703
63.682=e^0.03x
ln both sides to remove e
4.1539=0.03x
divide by 0.03 both sides
x=138.46 years
