To find x-coordinates of intersection points, solve the equation


 = ,


which is equivalent to


 = 0.


Without solving equation, the roots are x= a  and  x= b (based on the Vieta's theorem).


Having x-coordinates, you can easily calculate their y-coordinates, using the second of the two given equations.
