Question 1132884: The four- wheeled cart is held at the bottom of a ramp. It is given a gentle push so that it rolls part of the way up the ramp, slows, stops, and then rolls back down the ramp. A motion detector is placed at the top of the ramp to detect the motion of the cart. The equation representing this situation is y=0.2t^2-0.6t+0.95
a) how far is the cart from the detector at the start?
b) How far is the cart from the detector at 1 second?

Answer by ikleyn(52776)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.

I will assume that "y" represents the distance from the detector.

(Actually, it should be clearly stated in the post !

I should not make my hypotheses, when I solve the problem posted by you ! ! )

Solution

(a) To answer question (a), substitute t= 0 into the right side function and calculate.

What you will get, is clear by an unarmed eye, even without calculations.

It is 0.95 of a meter. ANSWER

(b) To answer this question, substitute t= 1 into the right side function and calculate.

Do it on your own - it is YOUR JOB, and the tutors on the forum are not obliged to do your work for you or instead of you.

Honestly,  I do not understand,  for what reason visitors come to the forum with questions,  where the answer is  OBVIOUS.
